THIRTY YEARS OF FUN (USA 1963, 80mins, edited Robert Youngson)
Time: 2.00pm

Laurel and Hardy

30 YEARS OF FUN is the rarest of Youngson’s feature length silent comedy compilations. Never seen on British TV and featuring Chaplin, Keaton, Langdon and Laurel & Hardy (in their first film LUCKY DOG), as well as the lesser known Snub Pollard, Billy Bevan, Charley Chase, Sydney Chaplin and others, Covering the entire silent era, 30 YEARS OF FUN is a great primer on silent comedy and a real laugh fest to open this year's Slapstick festival. Introduced by David Wyatt.

21st CENTURY SLAPSTICK

The art of silent comedy is not dead. At least sufficient young filmmakers have been inspired to make such excellent re-imaginings of silent comedy to compel us to develop this event hosted by Pordenone silent film festival’s Director David Robinson.

Three new short comedies including (from Pordenone) Andrew Legge’s highly acclaimed UNUSUAL INVENTIONS OF HENRY CAVENDISH (2005) will run alongside a short film documentary from James Harrison of behind the scenes at last year’s festival and a special sneek preview of footage from the recently commissioned BBC TV series Paul Merton’s Silent Clowns.
