Join Bristol Silents and save money on Slapstick events. Now in its unprecedented fourth year and following last year's sell-out event, Paul Merton, fresh from his hit BBC2 TV series Paul Merton's Silent Clowns, hosts this special Gala event for Bristol's Slapstick Silent Comedy festival. An evening of classic silent screen comedy hand picked by the irrepressible Paul Merton featuring the world premiere of Timothy Brock's re-score of Chaplin's own score for his greatest silent comedy THE GOLD RUSH.
A live orchestral score performed by the 15 piece EMERALD ENSEMBLE conducted by Timothy Brock accompanies this screen classic.
With other comedy shorts including Laurel and Hardy classic LEAVE EM LAUGHING (featuring musical accompaniment from Neil Brand and international friends) and special guest Paul McGann this promises to be a spectacular evening of entertainment, music and laughter guaranteed to delight audiences young and old alike.
This gala evening is part of Bristol's fourth Slapstick Silent Comedy Festival hosted by Paul Merton with events running across Watershed, Colston Hall, St George's and Arnolfini. It features a wealth of special guests including Bonzo front man and ex-Rutle Neil Innes, Graeme Garden, Aardman Animation's Peter Lord, triple Oscar winner Richard Williams, pianist and composer Neil Brand and actor Paul McGann. A joyous celebration of the funniest silent comedy on the planet. With the people most passionate about it.
