Slapstick Festival 2026

Slapstick 2026 brings more than 30 events across five joy-filled days in Bristol, celebrating screen comedy in all its forms: from silent-era masterpieces to classic sitcoms, anarchic stand-ups and big-screen favourites.

Highlights include a spectacular Silent Comedy Gala with live music from Rick Wakeman and the European Silent Screen Virtuosi. Our strands for February explore everything from Laurel & Hardy’s early brilliance to their final feature, the sharp wit and innovation of Alexei Sayle, the legacy of Lee Mack’s long-running sitcom and a host of specially curated classic comedy events.

Holy Fools

Another key strand, Holy Fools, invites you to discover how comedy challenges hypocrisy and helps us see the world anew. Plus, we honour Armando Iannucci with the inaugural Golden Baz Award — and there are more surprises yet to come!
