Slapstick is celebrating Cary Grant’s Birthday with one of his earliest screwball comedies. Chock full of double-entendres, Mae West and Cary Grant star in this bawdy crime comedy, the first of two films they made together. Lady Lou (West) is a saloon singer with many male admirers, including Captain Cummings (Grant), who saves her from her jealous former lover when he escapes from prison. Famous for featuring one of the most misquoted lines in film history, this is classic comedy at its best. In partnership with Cary Comes Home Festival and Introduced by the author of ‘The Women Who Built Bristol‘ series Jane Duffus.
